TouchLinc 4.0 Touchscreen X10 Controller
Smarthome Design’s innovative TouchLinc 4.0 Touchscreen controller lets you easily control all of your X10-controllable home systems, including lighting, appliances, heating & air conditioning, automated drapes, and even home theater (with the help of an intelligent controller), through a single intuitive display. It offers much like our classic TouchLinc 2.0, but adds upgraded graphical features like a six-icon desktop, “virtual” audio/video remote controls, and a clock/calendar display.
Customizable Menus
Controlling your automated devices with the TouchLinc Touchscreen couldn’t be easier. TouchLinc 4.0 features a six-icon desktop that lets you get quickly to the type of control you want.
* The LIGHTS icon leads to a sub-menu on which you can set up and control individual lights or lighting macros.
* The AUDIO icon leads to a graphic representation of a remote for your CD Player and Receiver.
* The VIDEO icon leads to a graphical representation of a remote for your TV & VCR.
* The TEMP icon leads to a menu for control of your X10-compatible thermostat.
* The CLOCK icon leads to a clock/calendar display screen.
* The MORE icon leads to a sub-menu you can set to access up to 14 additional submenus each containing up 15 options you can program to control whatever you like.
In each sub-menu, control is as easy as touching the menu option that is labeled with the name of the light, appliance, or macro you want to activate. For example, you can turn on your living room lights by touching an option in the Lights sub-menu you’ve labeled “Living Room.” TouchLinc gives you one-touch control over up to 240 different X10 devices, through either direct X10 control or X10 macro triggers to an intelligent controller.
One-Touch Control
Similar to a standard X10 controller, you touch the left side of a menu option to turn a device ON and the right side to turn it OFF. An ON/OFF icon shows you know the status of the controlled device. You can brighten a light by pressing and holding the left side of the menu option, or dim it by pressing and holding the right side.
For even greater automated control, you can use TouchLinc with any X10 2-way intelligent controller (JDS TimeCommander, HouseLinc, Activehome, etc.) to trigger pre-programmed X10 macros and to control home theater equipment.
You can trigger macros for everything from turning on lights at preset dim levels to controlling multiple devices (such as your TV, VCR and surround sound) with a single touch of the TouchLinc’s screen. See our Home Theater Control Kit on the following page for more information on a kit that combines TouchLinc 4.0 with an intelligent controller and other accessories for complete home theater control.
Easy Setup
TouchLinc 4.0 is easy to configure. All of the sub-menus (other than the graphical remotes and clock) are completely customizable. With the included Windows-based software, you just select the type of device you want to control (lamp, appliance, macro, sub-menu, etc.), select the device’s house and unit codes, and enter the text that you want to appear as the label for that menu option. Then download your configuration from your PC using the included cable, and you’re in business.
TouchLinc lets you create up to 16 sub-menu screens that are instantly accessible “Lights,” “Temperature,” and “More” icons on the desktop. Each sub-menu screen has 15 menu options you can customize. Create custom sub-menus for every room in your home, then control all your automated devices from a single TouchLinc. Switch on your bedroom lights and electric blanket at night before you leave the living room, or start your coffee, tune in to news radio and turn on downstairs space heaters in the morning before you get out of bed.
You can even program your TouchLinc to send you up to 8 different user-defined messages (with a warning beep) in response to received X10 signals. For example, if you have a motion detector set up in front of your home, you can have TouchLinc inform you when visitors approach. Programming is stored in non-volatile memory so it will remain intact even if your TouchLinc is disconnected. And you can save multiple configurations for TouchLinc in the software for future use.
Special Features
TouchLinc features an illuminated ON button for easy locating in the dark and a an upgraded blue backlighting for operation even in total darkness. TouchLinc can be surface-mounted on a wall, installed in an electrical box (it mounts over any 2-gang J box), or mounted onto an optional tabletop stand. An optional, stylish TABLETOP STAND (#1270PDS or PDC) made of smoked or clear Lexan gives you the convenience of using TouchLinc on a coffee or bedside table. Replace TouchLinc’s power supply and data cable with an optional SINGLE CORD SOLUTION (#1270SCS), combining power and data into one cable, for a more elegant, streamlined look when you place TouchLinc on a tabletop stand.
