Home Automation SoftwareMeedio software powers today’s digital home. Built on top of an award-winning platform which has been adopted by hundreds of third-party developers, our suite of products can be enjoyed individually or together for a complete digital home experience.”

How does it work?

At the heart of Meedio HouseBot is a robust automation server that runs on Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. The Meedio HouseBot server can be run on a dedicated home automation PC or run in the background with other applications such as Meedio Essentials.

The minimum system requirements to run Meedio HouseBot are a 200MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM. However, the actual hardware requirements will depend on how extensively the system is configured.

Meedio HouseBot connects to other devices through “hardware interfaces” that plug into your PC’s USB, serial, and ethernet ports. Meedio HouseBot’s open platform allows new interfaces to be added easily. Currently supported hardware interfaces include:

* ADI Ocelot icon
* Faroudja DVS 2500
* Global Cache GC-100 icon
* Meridian 565
* Modem / Phone
* PowerLinc USB icon
* Slink-e icon
* USB-UIRT
* W800 icon
* X10 CM11a icon, CM11g
* X10 MR26a
* Z-Wave USB icon

By enabling your lights, appliances, security system, thermostat, and other household devices with home automation interfaces, they will be able to communicate with the Meedio HouseBot server for centralized monitoring and control.

For example, if you have an X10 hardware interface icon on your Meedio HouseBot server than you can communicate with the following X10 enabled devices:

* Lights icon
* Motion detectors icon
* Appliances icon
* Water pumps and heaters icon
* Security sensors icon
* Remote controls icon

X10 devices communicate with an X10 hardware interface through the existing electrical wiring in your home. You can also use a wireless interface like Z-Waveicon, or even mix and match different types of devices connected to different interfaces.
The Meedio HouseBot server can control your devices by itself, according to rules and schedules that you setup using easy point-and-click wizards. You can also create graphical “software remotes” with the drag-and-drop theme designer to monitor and control your system from networked PCs and PDAs. Meedio HouseBot software remotes run as native applications on the following platforms:

* Windows CE 2.11
* Windows CE 3.0
* PocketPC
* Windows 95
* Windows 98
* Windows ME
* Windows NT 4.0
* Windows 2000
* Windows XP

Meedio HouseBot software remotes can even connect to Meedio HouseBot servers from across the Internet so that you can remotely monitor and control your house or vacation home when you’re away. Software remotes provide real-time bi-directional communication with Meedio HouseBot servers. For legacy applications where a software remote cannot be used, Meedio HouseBot servers can also interface with a COM object for control through a web interface.
